Accessibility

Accessibility Services Office and Computer Access Center

The Accessibility Services Office (ASO) operates under the mandate of Section 504 and Section 508 of the Federal Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Amendments Act of 2008, which prohibit discrimination on the basis of handicap against any "otherwise qualified individual." Individuals seeking accommodations must give reasonable notice and provide documentation to support their request.  Reasonable accommodations will be made on a case-by-case basis for consideration of accessibility options designed to promote equal access to learning.  Be aware that there are different expectations and requirements and different laws regarding accommodations between high schools and colleges.

Mission Statement:  To provide accommodations and/or assistive technology to students with disabilities in order to afford them an opportunity to reach their highest possible potential in higher education.

To see if you qualify for services, follow the established procedure listed below.  Please allow 5-7 working days for us to process your request.  You will be contacted through your CCA student e-mail.  You may access your e-mail by logging into MyCCA at www.CCAurora.edu

 New Student

1.     Needs Assessment: This is the online form where students make their accommodation request(s).

2.      Documentation of disability:  Documentation on the current impact the disability has on a student in a learning environment to support the accommodation request will greatly assist us in determining appropriate and reasonable accommodations. The documentation may be sent through e-mail, fax, mail, or hand delivered to the ASO.

3.       Accommodation Interview: The ASO will contact the student through the CCA student e-mail to request an appointment.

4.      Accommodation Letter for New Student: After the interview, the student will be sent a letter of approved accommodations to their CCA student e-mail. The student is to forward this e-mail to each instructor as soon as possible as accommodations are not retroactive. Instructor email addresses can be found on their syllabi. If you have not received a response within 3-5 working days, please contact us.
