Learning Outcome
Learning Outcome 1: Critical
Inquiry: 90% of students will perform at a level of “acceptable” or above
for each characteristic identified on the assignment rubric, adopted from a
modified version of the Capstone course Written Works Criteria rubric, as a
part of the Constitutional Law course.
This rubric will assess student ability to synthesize results
from various substantive and procedural sources of law, with emphasis on U.S.
Supreme Court case law decisions, and to analyze Constitutional trends,
issues, and interpretations.
Learning
Outcome 2: Communication: 90% of all students will apply the
principles of objective analysis and be able to write for clarity and
readability when preparing case law briefs or other analytic writing
assignments required in the Constitutional Law course at a level of
“acceptable” for each characteristic identified on the assignment rubric.

Measure of the Student Learning
Direct Measure: No significant change. Embedded assignment requiring reflection on
legal issues and ethical considerations is included as part of final project in
Constitutional Law course. Evaluation by team of selected faculty (not including
the course instructor) and industry practitioners trained to use special rubric
adapted from the Capstone course Written Works criteria.
