Learning Outcome

 

Learning Outcome 1: Technology Skills: 100% of students will perform at a level of “acceptable” or above (80%+) for each characteristic identified on the assignment rubric specific to the Skills portion of the State of Colorado Peace Officers Standards and Training exam for certification as a peace officer in the state of Colorado.  This rubric will assess student ability to demonstrate competency in the operation of applicable equipment, and/or programs, and procedures specific to their profession.

 

Learning Outcome 2: Communication: 90% of all students will apply the principles of objective analysis and be able to write for clarity and readability when preparing incident or investigative reports or other analytic writing assignments required in their coursework at a level of “acceptable” for each characteristic identified on the assignment rubric as determined by the Subject Matter Experts assigned to their class.       

 

No significant change.  Due to required strict adherence to both State of Colorado and national standards of performance and training curricula specific to all courses taught in the Police Academy, there is no designated capstone course for students in the academy program; all students in this program must pass in-house exit tests, as well as passing the State of Colorado P.O.S.T. exam for those seeking certification in Colorado as peace officers, measuring cumulative didactic knowledge, applied skills, and technological knowledge.

Direct Measure:  No significant change.  Embedded assignments will be used to as a direct measure of student learning of specific application skills.
