Accounting is often called the language of business and is a method of recording, classifying, reporting, and examining economic data. Every business requires a method to maintain and track its budgets. As accounding and reporting guidelines have become stricter in the U.S., because of corporate scandals, strengthened by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) act of 2002, the demand for accountants has only increased. Few careers offer the flexibility, opportunities, and challeneges that accounting brings. The educational requirements for accounting are challenging, but they do not require the student to spend 10 years or more in school to graduate as a professional.
