Requirements for Adjunct Faculty in the
Business, Accounting and Computers Department
POSITION TITLE: Instructor (Part-time) – Business , Accounting and Computers
REPORTS TO: Department Chair
SUPERVISES: No supervisory responsibilities associated with this position.
BASIC FUNCTIONS: Provide instruction in assigned classes according to established course model syllabus.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Uphold the values of the college.
- Teach assigned classes in keeping with community college philosophy.
- Abide by all relevant college and CCCS and SBCCOE policies and procedures.
- At the first class meeting, provide students with a syllabus for the course that includes all components of the course master syllabus.
- By the end of the first week of class, provide the division with a copy of the course syllabus.
- Evaluate student performance in accordance with student learning outcomes as stated in the course syllabus.
- Conduct student evaluations of instruction in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance and grading of students and submit required records according to published deadlines.
- Attend departmental/divisional/instruction-wide meetings as called by the Department Chair, Dean or Vice President for Instruction.
- Participate in faculty development activities as required; adjunct instructors must complete the following “New Faculty Orientation" and Mid-Problem Solving during their first year.
- Submit to Community College Credentialing Process
Required Qualifications: A Minimum of a Master’s Degree in related field
Preferred Qualifications: Teaching/work experience and a terminal degree is preferred.

What training is required for adjunct faculty and will I be paid?
All faculty are required to complete the following training: (a) New Faculty Orientation (b) VISTA Training, (c) Mid-Problem solving (d) Sympodium and (e) document camera . All training opportunities as Community College of Aurora can be found at the following website. Adjunct faculty will be paid to attend the required training
What technology are instructors expected to utilize in their courses?
In our classrooms, we currently expect instructors to be familiar with and utilize
Document Camera and Sympodium. Additionally, our business department is undergoing
significant changes and is evaluating incorporating several programs to enhance the learning of our
students including
CAPSIM,
E-Portfolio
and
Virtual Reality software.

What will be required during the interview/teaching demonstration?
A 15-20 minute teaching demonstration on a topic to be given by the Department Chair related to the applicant’s area of expertise that incorporates technology as part of the teaching demonstration (e.g. Web, Document Camera, Sympodium).
