ACCESSIBILITY SERVICES ADVISOR

 

POSITION TITLE:         Accessibility Services Advisor   

POSITION NUMBER:   21019

REPORTS TO:                Director of Accessibility Services.

SUPERVISES:                 As assigned: Work Studies, Tutors, Interns, Hourly Staff.

FLSA STATUS:               Exempt

 

BASIC FUNCTION: To provide reasonable accommodations to qualified students with disabilities.

 

Specific duties and responsibilities:  Academic Advisor and case manager for students with disabilities.  Provide training to students in computers, Banner and assistive technology.  Coordinate and produce alternate format of textbooks.  Provide test accommodations.   Assist Accessibility Director as needed.  Develop and provide training for staff, faculty, and students.  Open LRC (Testing Center and Computer Lab) each morning and provide backup support to those areas. Must demonstrate an interest and compassion in working with students with disabilities.  Other duties as assigned. 

 

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling, Special Education, Social Work, or equivalent and experience working in an educational setting. 

 

Preferred Qualifications: Masters Degree in Counseling, Special Education, social work or equivalent.  Experience working with students with disabilities and as an academic advisor. Excellent written and oral communication skills.  Ability to work independently or as a team member. Knowledge of disability laws and how to apply those laws to post-secondary students with disabilities.  Work experience in crisis management.  Experience using assistive technology for people with disabilities.  Sign language skills. Proactive; excellent computer skills; sense of humor. 

 

Contract Specifics & Salary Range:  Professional/Technical position.  Salary is commensurate with education and experience and in accordance with the 2008-2009 Administrative Salary Schedule.  Salary range is mid $ 30 s to low $ 40 s per year.  CCA offers a competitive fringe benefit program including retirement, health, dental and life insurance.  Leave benefits and holidays are also included.  For information on benefits associated with this position, visit http://www.cccs.edu/HR/Admin.html.
