CCA offers over 50 degree and certificate programs that prepare 9,000 students for entry into the work force or transfer to baccalaureate-granting institutions. CCA operates on two campuses, the CentreTech campus in central Aurora and the Lowry campus on the Aurora/Denver border. The college’s student body is truly diverse with nearly half of all students identified as racial or ethnic minorities and a large and growing number of students with first languages other than English.

THE POSITION: Reporting directly to the College President, this position serves as a member of the Community College of Aurora President’s Cabinet and directs the overall operations of the Human Resources department to support the needs and requirements of the college’s administrators and employees. Position is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of all personnel activities for the College’s faculty, classified and non-classified staff, and part-time instructors. The position manages effective human resources strategies and services to include employment, recruitment, selection, compensation, orientation, payroll, grievances/appeals, dispute resolutions, performance management, staff development, benefits, safety, risk management, worker’s compensation, unemployment, and diversity to produce greater organization effectiveness.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Policy and Regulation - Monitor legal/regulatory compliance. Monitor recruitment, selection, promotions, wage determinations and disciplinary activities for compliance with federal and state laws, State Board policies and college procedures. Maintain updated knowledge of applicable laws/policies and provides appropriate briefings to administrators and other College personnel. Manage the development and updating of college policies and procedures related to employment matters. Provide interpretation of policies and procedures to all college employees.
Administrative Leadership - Provide administrative leadership to department’s human resources staff in coordinating all human resources functions including organizational planning, recruitment and staffing, benefits, compensation and classification, training and development, performance management, employee relations, affirmative action, and policy development/interpretation.
Employee Relations – Advocate for employee’s needs, issues, concerns and rights with the college’s administration. Represent the administration’s positions on employee expectations. Conduct interventions and facilitate employee-management communication and meetings as appropriate. Oversee the staff recognition programs that promote contribution, collaboration, collegiality and retention.
Evaluation and Compensation – Administer performance management plans for all employee groups. Consult with administrators and supervisors on strategies and action plans to increase individual employee and college performance effectiveness. In coordination with the VP of Administrative Services and the Budget Officer, develop and administer the college’s wage and salary plan. Design and implement alternative reward initiatives. Integrate compensation with performance management.
Training and Professional Development – Evaluate training needs and create plan to address employee training needs for all employee groups and to provide for professional development and growth opportunities.
Record Keeping - Oversee appropriate maintenance and security of human resources records including personnel files, FLSA and FMLA records. This includes responsibility for the maintenance and record keeping of the documents necessary to support exemption of positions from the classified system.
Budget – Oversee and administer the human resource and professional development budget.
Data Management – Oversee the development and maintenance of complete and accurate human resource data and metrics to be utilized as a decision making and support tool for college administration.

CONTRACT SPECIFICS & SALARY RANGE: This is a 12-month position. The salary is commensurate with education and experience and in accordance with the 2007-2008 Administrative Salary Schedule. The anticipated starting salary range is mid to high $60s per year. CCA offers a competitive fringe benefit program including health, dental and life insurance. Leave benefits and holidays are also included.
