SUPERVISES:                 Information Technology (IT) Department Staff

 

THE POSITION:   The Director of Information Technology oversees the data management and all technology-based operational functions of the college. This position will lead the formulation of college policies for the development and use of information technology across the college.  Works closely with the Colorado Community College System IT Staff to ensure the optimum integration of all college-owned computer systems with the system wide infrastructure, applications, and business processes.   Through the CCCS Information Technology Committee (ITC) collaborates with other college IT Directors and System IT staff to develop system-wide policies and identify potential solutions to business problems that impact all colleges.

 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

This position will co-chair the college’s Technology Committee and recommend IT Policy to President’s Cabinet and will serve as a member of the Colorado Community College System’s Information Technology Committee (ITC). Provide guidance to college staff and serve as the Subject Matter Expert on all technology-related issues in the college. Make strategic recommendations regarding CCA’s technology investments based on business needs, current trends and other input. Communicate with a variety of stakeholders regarding technology needs, business requirements and operational activities. Provide a customer-centric focus to the IT Department and its constituents. Work with IT staff to develop their technical, business and communication skills. Create a collaborative environment with CCA constituents including both academic and functional/service areas. Must demonstrate a good understanding of technology infrastructure requirements and current technology trends as appropriate in a community college setting.  Will assist in analyzing college-wide and individual user’s computing needs and the appropriateness and supportability of hardware and software systems. Develop short and long range goals for hardware, software, and infrastructure upgrades throughout the college. Coordinate technical support for all hardware installation and repair, software installation and systems configuration, and all voice and data communications systems configurations. Maintain inventory records for college information technology resources and promotes proper inventory practices. Remain current with system-wide technology development projects, and choose products and resources appropriate for the college’s mission.  Propose and administer the annual budget for IT resources. Work closely with the Instructional Unit to determine appropriate computer resources to facilitate effective classroom instruction.  Attend Academic Forum meetings to disseminate information to the Instructional Unit. Serve as a member of the Cabinet Advisory Committee. Manage department workload, course schedules, and meeting deadlines. Will perform other duties as assigned.
