Position Title:     Instructional Technology Trainer   (Position # 21034)

 

Reports To: Department Chair of Business, Computers, and Technology

           

Supervises:  May supervise Work Study Students

 

The Position: The Community College of Aurora embraces the idea that integrating technology into the learning environment enhances the educational experience and learning process for students and instructors alike.  The school uses a variety of technology, for example: electronic portfolios, PodCasting, Smartboard Technologies, clickers, digital and document cameras, Second Life simulation, and more. This position will assume a leadership role in directing, developing and providing faculty training and support in the use of instructional methodologies and computer technologies as well as researching new opportunities and resources.  We are looking for an individual enthusiastic about the role of technology who will perform as a member of a team and also possess the ability to work independently.

 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

In addition to the responsibilities listed above, this position will develop programs and curriculum in educational technology to provide training, mentoring, and help desk support to faculty across the college.  Also, deliver training in a variety of formats on both individual and group basis; assist faculty in the development of new online courses and enhancements to existing courses; provide training and assist with curriculum development related to the use of simulation technologies (i.e. Second Life); serve as a member of the Technology and Faculty Development committees; and perform other duties as assigned.  This person will be expected to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and department chairs to: identify needs, design training, and assist with the integration of technology into existing curriculum. 

 

Special Requirement:

Work must be completed on-site and this individual must be willing and able to conduct workshops during the days, evenings and on Saturdays.

 

Required Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree from an accredited institution.  Equivalent experience may count for up to two years of the education.  

Strong computer skills including experience in MS Office application programs.

Experience in course development, course conversions, and online delivery.

   

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited institution in instructional design, web development, or related field.
  • Two years experience training adults with a wide range of backgrounds, experience, and comfort with technology.
  • Experience using a Learning Management System.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of various forms of multimedia such as DVD, Streaming Video, and other digital media.
  • Experience teaching in both online and classroom environment.
  • Higher education experience preparing and delivering faculty and staff training in a variety of formats. 

 

Anticipated Start Date:  July 1, 2008
