Position Title: Job Transition Specialist - Arapahoe County TANF Program

Supervises:                  Staff as assigned

                                   

Basic Functions: The Community College of Aurora serves an increasingly diverse community. Competitive candidates will be able handle multiple tasks and deadlines while maintaining the requirements of the program. They will be creative and energetic with strong organizational interpersonal skills. Under the direction of the Assistant Coordinator, the Job Transition Specialist will monitor, coordinate, and evaluate all activities and progress of the Colorado Works Participant.  The Job Transition Specialist provides resources, support, and direction for each TANF eligible client.

 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct weekly new student orientations.
  2. Assessment of each participant in the areas of needs, goals, values, and abilities.
  3. Develop and update Job Transition Plans outlining steps to employment, based on assessment results.
  4. Assesses progress of participants, establishes and maintains Individual Responsibility Contracts.

5.     Maintain communication with the participant through weekly contact via phone or in person.

  1. Tracks and reports attendance and compliance of participants
  2. Develop and maintain employment partnerships in the community.
  3. Coordinates job placement support to participants.
  4. Provides services and referrals to participants.
  5. Assesses and processes supportive service requests and financial incentives.
  6. Enters participant information in state, county, and CCA database systems.
  7. Create monthly and quarterly reports.
  8. Maintains Colorado Business Management System records, as well as physical case file required by Arapahoe County.
  9. Approve employment incentives and staff Withdraw Benefit Payouts with program director.
  10. Works close with other community agencies and County partners.
  11. Assist with job readiness preparation and child care resource information.
  12. Stays abreast of advances and changes in county policies and procedures.
  13. Attend all staff meetings, team meetings, participant reviews, and case management training.

19.  Other duties as assigned by the Program Director.

 

Required Qualifications

1)     Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology or related field.

2)     Experience working in a social services, case management, counseling, or related field.

3)     Knowledge of Microsoft Programs.

4)     Experience working with diverse, economically disadvantaged populations.

 

Preferred Qualifications

1)     Preferred experience working within a county social services system or familiarity within a related industry of human services.

2)     Familiarity with community resources.

3)     Knowledge of case management practices such as client assessment, client counseling, barrier assessment, and career development.

 

Contract Specifics & Salary Range:  Professional/Technical position.  Salary is commensurate with education and experience and in accordance with the 2009-2010 Administrative Salary Schedule.  Salary range is mid $ 30 s to low/mid $ 40 s per year.  CCA offers a competitive fringe benefit program including retirement, health, dental and life insurance.  Leave benefits and holidays are also included.  For information on benefits associated with this position, visit http://www.cccs.edu/HR/Admin.html.
