The Position: The Community College of Aurora is a dynamic institution continually developing programs to serve the needs of a diverse and growing student population. We are looking for a faculty member to teach General Biology, Human Anatomy & Physiology, Microbiology and other related courses and labs. We are seeking an energetic, innovative individual with a passion for student success. The successful candidate for the position will be a creative academic leader with a sense of humor. The faculty member will be responsible for maintaining and updating curriculum in compliance with departmental guidelines. Additionally, the faculty member will work collaboratively with colleagues across the college and/or in other activities, participates in advising, committee assignments, high school recruitment, will strive to actively engage students; contribute to the processes of instructional planning, assessment review and other academic and institutional support activities. The faculty member will participate in professional development in both subject matter and instructional methods.
In order to perform the essential functions of this position, the individual must possess the ability to effectively communicate, concentrate, pay attention to detail, instruct/teach and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills. Innovative qualities will be extremely valuable.
Required Qualifications:

Minimum of a Master’s Degree in Biology or a related field.

Two years of college teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Community college teaching experience with an emphasis on courses related to Human Anatomy and Physiology and Pathophysiology.

Contract Specifics & Salary Range: This is a 9-month faculty contract. Salary is commensurate with education and experience and in accordance with the 2008-2009 Administrative Salary Schedule. Starting salary range is $40’s. Candidates with a doctorate degree could earn up to the low $50s. CCA offers an excellent benefit plan. Leave and holiday benefits are also included. Anticipated Start Date: The successful candidate will start January 2010.
