Full-Time Contract for 2008-2009 Academic Year – Business

POSITION TITLE:      Regular Nine Month Faculty – Business

REPORTS TO:             Department Chair of Business & Computers 

SUPERVISES:              May be assigned supervisory responsibilities 

The Position:  The person hired for this position will oversee a dynamic business, management and marketing program.  The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in the business community  S/he will have progressively responsible experience in the private or public sector, strong organizational skills, strong computer skills, an ability to learn and adapt to new technology and programs, integrate these skills into the classroom environment, and demonstrate a commitment to continued participation in professional development.  This position works closely with the computer science department in developing cutting edge simulation as part of our curriculum, which will include working with virtual reality applications (Second Life) and educational simulation modules.  Most importantly, this position will serve as a connector and integrator between our programs and industry, and must be comfortable networking with individuals and businesses in the area to establish partnerships and develop internship opportunities for students.  

Duties and Responsibilities:

Non-Instructional Duties and Responsibilities: Provide leadership and management for the business program; develop innovative instructional programs; supervise online and face to face course offerings; recruit, evaluate, and supervise part-time faculty; advise students and handle student complaints; develop partnerships with business and community partners; develop partnerships with colleges and universities to promote transfer and articulation agreements; collaborate with the college’s high school recruitment and enrollment operations to foster new student enrollment; conduct two or three business advisory committees a year; oversee and participate in the business department’s assessment plan.  

Faculty Responsibilities: Develop and implement curriculum for classes and programs that meet student and community needs; maintain accurate and timely records of student performance in classes; infuse curriculum with technology, i.e. virtual reality applications (Second Life), Web 2.0 technologies, and educational simulation modules; actively engage students in the learning process; contribute to the processes of instructional planning, assessment and curriculum review; pursue continued professional development both in subject matter and instructional methods; support student activities; serve on committees; attend meetings called by the President, Vice-President of Instruction, Dean and/or Chair of Accounting, Business & Computers; assist the Chair of Accounting, Business, & Computers with other activities as assigned. 

Required Qualifications:

§          Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field
§         
Relevant work experience in the public or private sector

Preferred Qualifications:

§          Strong computer skills
§         
Two years experience teaching at a community college
§         
Experience with alternative modes of instructional delivery including online courses
§         
Commitment to assessment of student learning and continuous curriculum review
§         
Interest in developing and promoting new course and programs in accordance with workforce and transfer needs
§         
MBA or Masters degree in Business or related field

Contract Specifics & Salary Range: Nine-month regular faculty appointment.  Salary is commensurate with education and experience and in accordance with the 2008-2009 Administrative Salary Schedule.  Salary range is $38,500 to $50,000 per year.  CCA offers a competitive fringe benefit program including health, dental and life insurance.  Leave benefits and holidays are also included.  For information on benefits associated with this position, visit http://www.cccs.edu/HR/Admin.html.

Anticipated Start Date:  The successful candidate will begin work on August 18, 2008.
