Full-Time, Regular Faculty – Education and Teacher Preparation

POSITION TITLE:      Regular Contract –Education

REPORTS TO:             Dean of Liberal Arts

SUPERVISES:              May be assigned supervisory responsibilities

The Position: This faculty member teaches courses in education and serves as Teacher Preparation Program Coordinator.  The successful candidate will be responsible for developing a new teacher preparation program and providing oversight for an existing early childhood education program.  The ideal candidate possesses a combination of leadership skills and broad content knowledge in education.  Emphasis is placed upon developing transfer and articulation agreements with baccalaureate-granting institutions to create a comprehensive education program.  The faculty member works collaboratively with colleagues across the college, participates in advising, committee assignments, high school recruitment, and other academic and institutional support activities.  As a faculty member, the position teaches a reduced class load according to established guidelines and policies.  Faculty responsibilities include: infusing the curriculum with global perspectives and technology; actively engaging students; contributing to the processes of instructional planning, assessment and curriculum review; pursuit of continued professional development in both subject matter and instructional methods; and supporting student activities.  The successful candidate for the position will be a creative academic leader with a sense of humor who works well in a collaborative, participative environment.

Required Qualifications:

§          Masters degree in Education or a related field, or a masters degree plus 18 hours of graduate level Education coursework

Preferred Qualifications:

§          Two years Community College teaching experience

§          Experience in a multi-cultural environment

§          Interest/experience in globalizing the curriculum

§          Ph.D. in Education or related field

Contract Specifics & Salary Range: Nine-month regular faculty appointment.  Salary is commensurate with education and experience and in accordance with the 2008-2009 Administrative Salary Schedule.  Salary range is $38,500 to $50,000 per year.  CCA offers a competitive fringe benefit program including health, dental and life insurance.  Leave benefits and holidays are also included.  For information on benefits associated with this position, visit http://www.cccs.edu/HR/Admin.html.

Anticipated Start Date:  The successful candidate will begin work on August 18, 2008.
