TANF Job Transition Specialist
Position Title: TANF Job Transition Specialist Position # 23048
Position Status: Full-time FLSA Status: Exempt
Reports To: Director of the Center for Workforce Development
Basic Functions: The Job Transition Specialist (JTS) monitors, coordinates, and evaluates all activities and progress of Colorado Works Participants.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities: Conduct weekly new participant orientations. Assess each participant’s needs, goals, values, and abilities and determine motivation and interest in training as well as identifying career goals. Develop and update Job Transition Plans, outlining steps to employment based on assessment results. Meet with participants to initiate Individual Responsibility Contracts. Practice and enforce compliance with federal, state, and county welfare legislation and city and county contracts. Maintain knowledge of county policies and procedures. Maintain communication with participants and communicate upcoming trainings, resource connections, job announcements, and program updates to the participant in a timely fashion. Track and monitor participant progress and compliance and offer solutions and/or issuing notices of non-compliance as needed. Facilitate biweekly workshops which assist job seekers in all phases of applying for jobs, including posting current job listings to assist participant in job search. Research resources for participants through collaboration with other contracted agencies and CFWD staff. Track and record participant information in monthly reports. These reports require diligent monitoring of all participants including, but not limited to, household financial information, household demographics, and training information. Maintain physical case files and ensure the confidentiality of the information gathered in the case files. Conduct community outreach through group presentations, meetings, trainings, etc. Work with all ongoing CFWD staff to maintain a successful and stable case load. Perform weekly case audits: prepare reports to include areas of development and/or highlight areas of efficiency. Attend appropriate meetings and trainings. Use and utilize computerized data systems for case management, which includes data entry into Colorado Benefits Management System (CBMS). Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree.
Work experience in social work, counseling, psychology or related field.
Bilingual and bi-literate in English and Spanish.
Note: Must be available to work some evening and weekend hours as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated knowledge of case management practices such as client assessment, client counseling, barrier assessment, and career development.
Familiarity with community resources and referrals.
Experience working within a county social services system or familiarity within a related field of human services.
Knowledge of Microsoft Programs as well as the ability to transfer knowledge to database.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Contract Specifics & Salary Range: Professional/Technical position. Salary is commensurate with education and experience and in accordance with the 2008-2009 Administrative Salary Schedule. Salary range is mid $ 30 s to low $ 40 s per year. CCA offers a competitive fringe benefit program including retirement, health, dental and life insurance.
