Position Title:             Assistant Coordinator – Adams County TANF Program

Position Status:          Full-time, Temporary              FLSA Status:  Non-Exempt

Reports To:                Program Director

Supervises:                 Staff as assigned

                                   

Basic Functions: The Community College of Aurora serves an increasingly diverse community. Competitive candidates will be able handle multiple tasks and deadlines while maintaining the requirements of the program. They will be creative and energetic with strong organizational and strong interpersonal skills. Under the direction of the Program Director, the Assistant Coordinator assists with the management of the Center’s Adams County TANF program including staff and instructor supervision, client assessment, case management, and creation and maintenance of program reports.  

 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Monitor Adams County TANF case load to exceed contract expectations.
  2. Approve and administer support services to clients.
  3. Provide day-to-day supervision and guidance for the Adams County TANF Job Transition Specialists.
  4. Provide support and assistance to Center instructors.
  5. Practice and enforce compliance with federal, state, and county welfare legislation and county contracts.
  6. Coordinate with other programs and college departments.
  7. Participate in selection and hiring of Center staff.
  8. Provide training for case managers.
  9. Perform weekly case audits and prepare reports that describe areas of development and/or highlight areas of efficiency.
  10. Direct, use, and utilize computerized data systems for case management.
  11. Lead trouble-shooting and communication related to case management requirements and services.
  12. Develop employment partnerships in the community.
  13. Attend county meetings and contract meetings.
  14. Stay abreast of changes in county policies and procedures.
  15. Maintain a moderate caseload and provide services and referrals.
  16. Track and report participant attendance and compliance.
  17. Attend all staff and program supervisor meetings.
  18. Develop and maintain partnerships with private, public, and non-profit sectors.
  19. Represent CCA to employers, funders, community-based organizations, and workforce development partners.
  20. Contribute to the meeting of CCA’s strategic goals.
  21. Other duties as assigned.

 

In order to perform the essential functions of this position, the individual must possess the ability to effectively communicate, concentrate, analyze data, pay attention to detail, retain learned knowledge, instruct/teach demonstrate strong organizational skills and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills. 

 

Required Qualifications

1)      Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or related field.

2)      Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

3)      Experience working in social services, case management, counseling, or related field.

4)      Knowledge of Microsoft programs and the ability to transfer information to existing program database.

5)      Two years experience in a management or leadership position.

 

Preferred Qualifications

1)      Availability to work some evenings and Saturdays.

2)      Bilingual and bi-literate in Spanish and English.

3)      Experience working within a county social services system or familiarity with a related human services system.

4)      Familiarity with community resources.

5)      Knowledge of case management practices such as client assessment, client counseling, barrier assessment, and career development.

6)      Experience working in marketing for social services or a related industry.

 

Salary:  Annual salary rate is mid $30s to low/mid $40s and is commensurate with education and experience in accordance with the 2009-2010 Administrative Salary Schedule.  Anticipated hours worked will be 40 hours per week.  Position is expected to continue through June 30, 2010.
