The Exact Same World

Only Different

The black trees sway in the hard wind.

I sit beneath one in my dark green dress

(a wonderful ball gown from the late 1800s).

My pale blue skin itches ever so slightly.

The red sky above me is unforgiving as

it lets loose its black rain.

I pull my limbs closer together as I shiver.

A navy blue rabbit joins me.

He hunkers down at my side with his ears

flat against his body.

We know you’re coming.
