Slow Down

rush hurry rush rush

hurry rush rushy

busy busy busy

first to be here

first to be there

not once to stop and think

what am I doing and why?

always

rush hurry rush

hurry rush rushy

our children growing away from

their parents

always taking care of their problems

never being asked

what are you doing and why?

always

hurry rush rush

hurry rush rushy

cherish your time with your family

for it won’t last very long

soon they’ll be off to college

you’ll be too busy with your

rush hurry rush

hurry rush rushy

BIO:

Joy would be delighted to see herself "published" in an online
literary mag.  when she did her reading at half-price on friday i
introduced her as a poet with "work pending publication."

Joy's eleven and is finishing up the sixth grade.  born in
northern england, she's lived in texas just over three years.
she's changed schools three times in the last six years, and is
currently in a public montessori school, Harry Stone, in south
dallas, which she'll attend through the 8th grade.  she's been an
avid reader and a writer as far back as she can remember, loves
fantasy literature, and plays the piano.

she wants me to tell you also that she is called the Book
Ebrithil (master in the "ancient language") at school.

(written by her dad, Garth Hill)
