Mission statement: The Global Initiatives workgroup at the Community College of Aurora fosters global understanding, addresses issues that transcend national boundaries, and prepares learners to become global citizens. This site will explain to faculty and staff what CCA is doing to
Strategies to fulfill this mission:
- Globalize CCA curriculum to prepare learners to be active members in a global society. This initiative will include the introduction of new approaches and topics in pre-existing courses, new courses, and developing a “Global Awareness Certificate.”
- Support international education for students and faculty through study abroad opportunities, faculty exchanges, faculty travel, etc.
- Support and recognize diversity and international awareness through community and scholarly activities. This initiative includes events such as International Day, Cross-disciplinary Global Issues Day, Aurora Restaurant Week, International festivals, etc.
- Promote intercultural awareness through employee training and international student activities. This can include faculty development workshops, international student clubs and support services.
- Establish international partnership, collaboration, and programs. This initiative can support local business and industry that is involved in international commerce, distance education, partner institutions, sister cities, sharing academic resources, etc.
- Support workforce development by offering courses and training opportunities to allow students to be more competitive in a multicultural workforce. This can include adding a new addition of global awareness course(s) in existing certificate programs or the creation of a “Global Awareness Certificate.”
