• What is the LOEP?
LOEP stands for Levels of English Proficiency. It is a test of your English skills in grammar, writing, reading comprehension, and listening comprehension.


• Why do I need to take LOEP?
You need to take this test if English is not your primary language or you have not been using it on a daily basis for a long time. Your LOEP scores will help you and your academic advisor decide what classes you will take as you begin your study
at CCA. Your results will be shown on a computer printout for you after you finish your test.


• Can I fail this test?
This is not a pass or fail test. The scores will tell you what level of English classes will be best for you.


• How long will this test take?
Each student is different, but plan on 3 hours for the full LOEP. You must take the two parts of this test in this order.
• Part 1 includes the Language Use and the ESL WritePlacer tests.
• Part 2 includes the Reading Skills and Listening tests.


• Does this test cost money?
Yes.

The cost is $10 for the full test and $5 for one section.


• Can I retest?
Yes. You may retest after a minimum of 3 days (2 weeks recommended). Each retest costs $5 per section. You may
only retest one time within any 3 year period.


• Do these scores expire?
Yes. After 5 years you must retest, and pay for the test again.
