Position Title: Regular Faculty - Renewable Energy Technology

Reports To: Renewable Energy Programs Coordinator and/or Science Department Chair
Supervises: May be assigned supervisory responsibilities

The Position: 

The Community College of Aurora is a dynamic institution now developing new academic programs in the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency fields to serve the needs of a growing student population. The Science Department has put a strong emphasis on hiring creative and effective instructors who engage students in the classroom and online. This faculty member teaches courses in and Renewable Energy Technology focusing on either Solar Photovoltaic or Energy Efficiency depending on background.  The successful candidate will be a creative academic leader who works collaboratively with other faculty as well as the college as a whole.  In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and updating curriculum in compliance with departmental guidelines.  This position will participate in other activities, such as, advising, committee assignments, high school recruitment, and other academic and institutional support activities.  Faculty responsibilities include: participating in the development of curriculum and the use of current technology; actively engaging students; contributing to the processes of instructional planning and assessment review; pursuit of continued professional development in both subject matter and instructional methods; and supporting student activities.  
 
In order to perform the essential functions of this position, the individual must possess the ability to effectively lead, motivate, communicate, concentrate, analyze data, pay attention to detail, retain learned knowledge, instruct/teach, demonstrate strong organizational skills and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.   

Minimum Qualifications: (In order to move forward in the search process, candidates must demonstrate that they meet the following requirements):

  • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Physics, Renewable Energy Technology or a related field

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • College-level Instructional experience
  • Dedication to interactive learner-centered teaching methods
  • Advanced degree
  • Direct hands-on field construction and design experience in Renewable Energy and/or Energy Efficiency fields
  • Experience in program or curriculum development
  • Demonstrative effectiveness in partnering with public and/or private entities
  • Experience with writing or managing grants
