“Community
Colleges and Nanotechnology” This workshop crosses over into
many other areas
presented because CC’s are in a unique position in the educational
hierarchy and are custodians of many vocational and workforce
development programs. An
introduction will be followed by
a brainstorming session and summary of the ideas presented.

What role do CC’s have in
the field?
Do we need to re-reinvent
the model?
“The New Covenant”
Will the state get in the
way?
What is needed for CC’s to
be a pivotal and real player in emerging technologies?
Who needs to walk the
walk?
What resources are
available for nanotechnology program development?
What does the ideal
student look like?

student interest in the sciences and engineering? what is the scope
of that problem - local? just
Colorado? just
the US? the west? PRESENTATIONS by two students (Lakewood and
Conifer HS's). How do we promote student interest and when do we
have to start (elementary school?) Can we form science clubs at the
schools (a simple method to promote emerging sciences). How do we
deal with the CSAP's? Do we need to get more students to visit
university, industry and national labs? Assemble a plan of action
report.
