The City of Aurora is celebrating our diverse international community on Saturday, August 23, through Global Fest 2014 (http://auroraglobalfest.org/).
The festival features dancing, music, arts and crafts, live entertainment, educational activities and delicious international foods from noon to 10 p.m. on the Great Lawn of the Aurora Municipal Center (15151 E. Alameda Parkway).
Global Fest is the first city-coordinated event to celebrate and highlight the hundreds of different ethnicities that call Aurora home.
More than 5,000 people could attend the international festival.
Performances include salsa dancing, Chinese lion dancing, the Korean Children's Choir, mariachi bands, a Kenyan band, Filipino folk dancing and the Cleo Parker Robinson dance troop. At 1 p.m., there will be an international fashion show with more than 14 countries represented. After that, there is a storytelling seminar where Aurora residents describe how they landed in the city.
