CCA’s EMS Program Opens Second Simulations Studio

Picture yourself enjoying a latté with a friend on a calm, balmy evening at a street café, accented with restaurant awning and street lamps, the envy of any Lodo restaurant with a patio setting. The ambiance is set for a romantic interlude or nostalgic reminiscing with friends. But tragedy can happen anywhere and when it does CCA’s EMS students are prepared. This quiet café setting is the scene of the second simulations studio for the Emergency Medical Providers program at CCA, which recently opened as a classroom. These realistic settings provide EMS students with life-mimicking scenarios complete with state-of-the-art mannequins that react to trauma and treatment with human responses. The simulation studios not only accustom students to the conditions they will encounter in the job but they are also video taped so they can be viewed in the classroom where the students can assess their performance. Significant partners in the EMP program include the Aurora Fire Department, Rural Metro Ambulance Service and the Medical Center of Aurora.
