CCA's involvement in an exciting new partnership to benefit students from Aurora Public Schools will be announced at a September 24 news conference.

CCA faculty member Sheridan Samano will deliver her presentation "Travel Tales of an Amateur Botanist: Peru" on Friday, Oct. 3, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the public is invited to attend.

Co-sponsored by the CCA History Department and the Swedish Genealogical Society of Colorado, the Fair will offer participants a chance to trace their Swedish heritage and will provide instruction for using online catalogs and websites to access international genealogical resources.

A welcome reception for CCA Asian Studies Visiting Scholar William Wei will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, and the public is invited to attend.

CCA's Traveling Scholars Lecture Series kicks off this Friday with a presentation by Associate Professor of Anthropology Elizabeth Hirsh.

A creative partnership between the Colorado Film School at CCA and the University of Colorado Denver will document all aspects of the 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver next week, and more than 80 volunteer filmmakers representing students, faculty, and alumni from both schools will be on the ground to record this once-in-a-lifetime event.

Black Entertainment Television’s top-rated “106 & Park” show will broadcast live from the Community College of Aurora’s CentreTech campus on Aug. 28 in an effort to encourage young people to register to vote.

The Community College of Aurora will hold its first-ever “Dream Starter” Registration Marathon nonstop from 8 a.m. Friday, August 15, to noon on Saturday, August 16.  Free food, prizes, movies, and live music will be available throughout the event.

Officials will hold an official Signing Ceremony to launch the new “2+2 Plan” allowing Community College of Aurora students to to complete a Metro State bachelor’s degree in biology or psychology without leaving the CCA campus.

CCA’s new assistant professor of astronomy and physics shares his fascination with the stars and galaxies in the classroom, where students benefit from his “stellar” knowledge. 

The Community College of Aurora’s Emergency Medical Provider Program has received gifts of two used ambulances.

Aurora Public Schools middle grades students go to summer camp and learn Web site creation, digital image manipulation, PowerPoint, and even get the chance to design and launch a rocket. 

The successful conclusion of a cutting-edge project has given high school students throughout the region the opportunity to conduct more than 6,000 DNA-related experiments in the classroom during the 2007-08 school year.
