The Colorado Film School at the Community College of Aurora announces a
collaboration with Regis University’s College of Professional Studies to create a new Bachelor of Fine Arts
degree (BFA) in film and video production for Regis. The program will kick off for Regis’ summer session
beginning May 4.
A program launch will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, March 26, at the Colorado Film School on the Lowry
campus. The event is free and open to the public. For more information and directions, call 303-340-7321.
The BFA program provides for emphases in writing/directing, writing/producing, cinematography/videography,
post-production, and acting for the screen. All film/video classes in the BFA program are offered at the
Colorado Film School’s state-of-the-art facilities at 9075 East Lowry Blvd.
According to Frederic Lahey, director of the Colorado Film School, students at CFS engage in real-world
productions under the tutelage of working industry professionals. Students in the new program “will master
transferable competencies in critical thinking, creative problem solving, storytelling, and visual literacy,”
he explained. General education requirements are met in classes available at the CCA campus at Lowry, online,
and at the Regis campuses around metro Denver.
Each year, students at Colorado Film School create more than 1000 original short projects and assignments. A
faculty jury selects the top work in each class for inclusion in either the School’s fall or spring student
show. A number of these selections may be seen online at
