AURORA, COLO.— As a component of this semester’s Literature of Immigration course at the Community College of Aurora, the college will host a panel discussion of Aurora-based experts who will explore a variety of issues associated with Aurora immigrants. The event is free and open to the public and will be held Monday, April 6, from 4-5:30 p.m. at CCA’s CentreTech campus, Classroom Building room 207AB, 16000 E. CentreTech Parkway.
According to course instructor Wayne Gilbert, students in his class are reading recent literature by and
about immigrants and immigration, especially as the literature relates to immigration to the United
States. “As we read, we are trying to ‘test’ what we discover in literature against what we ‘know’ about
Aurora, the community where those in the class work and live,” he explained. “These panel experts, who
work closely with local immigrant groups, can help us better understand our neighbors and the dynamic
forces at work around us.”
Experts on the panel will represent Aurora agencies and organizations, as well as service and community
groups.
