Biology professor will represent Council to the State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education
AURORA, COLO.— Todd Bergren, professor of biology at the Community
College of Aurora, has been named chair of the State Faculty Advisory
Council (SFAC) for the Colorado Community College System. In this
position, he will be the SFAC representative to the State Board for
Community Colleges and Occupational Education for 2009-2010.
Bergren has taught at CCA for 15 years and has a bachelor’s degree from
Colorado State University in veterinary science and a bachelor’s in
mechanical engineering from the Colorado School of Mines. He also holds
a master’s and a Ph.D. from CU-Boulder in bioengineering. He teaches
most of CCA’s biology classes, as well as a DNA techniques course in the
college’s biotechnology program.
The Colorado Community College System is governed by a nine-member State
Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education (SBCCOE). The
Board is unique in the nation, with responsibility for both secondary
and post-secondary career and technical education and community college
governance. Members are appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the
State Senate for staggered four-year terms.
