AURORA,
COLORADO – The Community College of Aurora Foundation (CCAF) Board has
appointed Fred Brown to its board of directors.
Brown officially retired from The Denver Post in early 2002, but he resumed
writing an editorial page column for the newspaper a year later. He also is
a principal in the Hartman and Brown media consulting firm, teaches
communication ethics at the University of Denver, and does occasional
political and legislative analysis for Denver’s 9News. Brown has won a
number of awards, including a Sigma Delta Chi Distinguished Service Award
for editorial writing in 1988, and the Wells Key, the Society of
Professional Journalist’s highest honor, in 2006. He is an Honor Alumnus of
Colorado State University and a member of the Denver Press Club Hall of
Fame.
“The Board and I are pleased to welcome Mr. Brown to our organization,” said
Diana Whye, CCAF’s executive director. “We will benefit greatly from his
expertise, particularly in the area of communications and journalism.”
CCAF provides financial support to CCA and its students through fundraising
and serves to build public and business awareness of the college and its
benefits to the eastern metro area. Last year, CCAF completed a successful
$2.5 million capital campaign and to date has awarded over $1.2 million in
scholarships to CCA students and faculty.
