Community College of Aurora Named to FirstGen Forward Network Class of 2025

AURORA, Colo. — The Community College of Aurora (CCA) is proud to have received national recognition for its commitment to serving first-generation college students with the FirstGen Forward designation.

The designation, awarded by the Center for First-generation Student Success, recognizes institutions that are advancing the overall college experience and improving outcomes for first-generation students.

“This recognition is a powerful affirmation of who we are and what we stand for. At the Community College of Aurora, we don’t just serve students, we champion them,” said
CCA President Dr. Mordecai Brownlee. “Especially those who are first in their families to pursue higher education. Being named a FirstGen Forward institution reflects the heart of our mission and our team’s collective commitment.”

CCA prioritizes inclusion as part of its strategic plan by building an inclusive and supportive environment for its students through advocacy, programming, and access to essential resources.

Participation in the FirstGen Forward Network will allow CCA to connect with institutions across the country, providing access to resources, research, and professional development, all aimed at enhancing the college’s capacity to support first-generation students.

CCA began its engagement with the FirstGen Forward Network with a virtual kickoff event in June. Learn more about CCA and its commitment to student excellence by visiting https://ccaurora.edu/.
