The Community College of Aurora and the University of Colorado College of Nursing offer a unique, integrated pathway to earn a Bachelor of Science in nursing degree. Students will also earn an Associate of General Studies from Community College of Aurora within the program. The program requires application, selection, and admission into the program simultaneously by the Community College of Aurora and the University of Colorado College of Nursing.

The Integrated Nursing Pathway is designed to increase access for community college students to baccalaureate nursing education. The program provides outstanding preparation for professional nursing practice. Students admitted into the Integrated Nursing Pathway will receive the best education from nationally recognized institutions. CCA is noted for its innovative programs in science and support services for its exceptionally diverse community. University of Colorado’s College of Nursing offers highly ranked undergraduate and graduate nursing programs.

Upon completion of the program prerequisites and admission requirements, the Integrated Nursing Pathway allows students to take Term 1 and 2 classes at CCA and the College of Nursing and complete studies at College of Nursing in Terms 3 through 8. Students will receive nursing instruction at the new, state-of-the-art University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, which will allow them to reach their highest potential.

After successful completion of the first two terms of the program, students will receive an Associate of General Studies degree from the Community College of Aurora and will progress to earn a Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of Colorado College of Nursing.

The Integrated Nursing Pathway emphasizes the value of a diverse student population as a way of achieving excellence in practice that is reflective of the cultural diversity of health care recipients. The diversity of our nursing students will help to prepare them to better serve the patient populations they reflect.

The Integrated Nursing Pathway

Thirty students will be accepted each fall into the Integrated Nursing Pathway. As nursing students, they will learn, study, and support each other throughout the program. Expert faculty and staff will be available to offer ongoing support and provide the best learning opportunities for successful completion.

Students selected for the Fall program will begin their studies and continue together through the completion of the Integrated Nursing Pathway. Students need to enroll at CCA and attend a general information session.  During the semester before your application to the Integrated Nursing Pathway, students should meet with Dr. Nancy Kiernan Case, Dean of Health Sciences.  Call 303-340-7073 to schedule an appointment.  At this time, commitment to completion of the program and successful completion of prerequisites or review of prerequisites by the Dean will be required prior to application for admission to the Integrated Nursing Pathway. Students who are close to meeting the prerequisites are encouraged to meet with Dr. Case very soon.
