SECURITY OFFICER SPECIALIST CERTIFICATE
FALL SEMESTER 2009
This academy-style program will prepare and train students interested in becoming security officers for high level security assignments. Students will be prepared and trained to work in specialized security areas such as site security analysis and protection, as well as trained to assume supervisory roles in the industry. This certificate will count toward the elective coursework for the Criminal Justice A.A.S. degree.

Fall Term to Spring terms: Oct. 19, 2009 – June 11, 2010
SCHEDULE:
The program will start on Oct. 19th, and will be run academy –style in a hybrid course format utilizing both online and classroom discussion and exercises. Enrolled students will attend class on the Lowry campus in Bldg. 859 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 9:40 p.m. Some Friday night instruction will be needed for the Arrest Control class. Study will include both classroom lecture and discussion combined with hands-on instruction and tactical training. Students will be exposed to and trained to handle a wide variety of commonly encountered situations, and tactical and critical response situations they may respond to in the profession through the use of role-playing simulated activities in our CCA Simulation Center rooms. In addition, students will receive training and certification in the use of OC spray, the Taser, the expanding baton, and arrest control and self-defense tactics. Students must successfully complete all of the courses within the academy training program with a “C” grade or better to graduate.
