COMPUTERIZED ACCOUNTING II

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

 

Computerized Accounting is a continuing account- ting course intended to integrate, or bring together, accounting principles and practices previously learned in beginning accounting courses.  This course presents an overview of the impact of computers on accounting procedures and describes the major differences between manual and computerized accounting systems.  Emphasis is placed on computerized functions of the general ledger, depreciation, payroll, inventory, and integrated accounts receivable and accounts payable accounting systems.

 

This course introduces the basics of microcomputers and software packages, the accounting procedures and cycles for service and merchandizing businesses, voucher systems, departmentalized accounting and reporting, financial statement analysis, fixed asste accounting and inventory accounting.

 

Class work is designed to be conducted over the internet and in class.  Consequently, most of your contact will be necessary by e-mail.  Students must provide own access to the internet.

 

HYBRID DESCRIPTION:

 

Hybrid courses offer the convenience of an Internet course with the opportunity to meet face to face with the instructor and classmates.  Although all of the work can be done through the internet, scheduled meeting times will be published for each course.  There may be mandatory onsite meetings for some courses to take midterm or final examinations.
