3 Credit Hours

(June 2 to August 9)

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

English Composition I is the first of a two-semester sequence of college-level writing.  Students must place into this course with appropriate assessment test scores, ACT/SAT scores, or by having earned a grade of C or better in English 090, the last of a three-course developmental-English sequence.  Entering Comp I students are expected to be able to write grammatical sentences and effective paragraphs (though this expectation is not always met).  Grammar and mechanics are to be evaluated, but are not the focus of college composition courses.
