COURSE DESCRIPTION:

 

Eng 122 is an argumentative research writing course.  There is heavy emphasis on critical thinking skills. There is no creative writing or other genres of writing. This is a labor intensive course.

REQUIRED MATERIALS:

 

Computer with appropriate word processing program (Microsoft Word).  You must purchase the DK Handbook at the school bookstore.  You need a code to get on their website.

HOW TO GET STARTED:

 

 

Begin by reading through the entire syllabus.  This course is NOT a self-paced course, so please log into the class on the first day to review the first set of assignments.  Then check your email inbox in Blackboard Vista for a “ Getting Started” email.

 

ORIENTATION SESSION/FIRST MEETING:

 

There are no SET class meetings; however, there may be times when you need to come to campus for a conference or such.  This is dependent on the needs of the class and the availability of schedules.

 

 

 

OTHER INFORMATION:

 

This is a shorter than normal course, which means the course work will be accelerated (we will be completing 15 weeks worth of material in 10 weeks). There is a lot of work in this course.  There will be work due each week that must be submitted on the due date by midnight. There is NO WAY TO SUBMIT LATE WORK!!!  This work must be submitted in the form of a .doc.  NO .docx, Wordpad, or notepad. It is your responsibility to have a computer and program that will be compatible with the Blackboard system.  You will be completing a training for Blackboard the first week of class.
