Intro to Literature

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

 

This course explores world literatures as a form of human expression and a way to understand the shared emotions that mark the human experience.

 

Through formal and aesthetic analysis you will begin to explore literary genres and develop the skills to understand and recognize when, how, and why literary genres overlap and interact.

·         You will need to download podcasting software from the following website: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

·         You will need to purchase an inexpensive microphone if your computer is not equipped with one built in. You can purchase them for less than $5 on Amazon.com.

 

 

 

HOW TO GET STARTED:

 

Upon first entering the course shell, look around. Find, download and save the course syllabus. Check out the course syllabus, there are assignments and discussions due every week.

Check out the discussions tab, become part of the first weeks discussion. 

Send me an e-mail using Blackboard Vista that includes your contact information, whether or not you have taken an on-line class before, and any concerns you have about using Blackboard Vista.

 

From the Blackboard vista home page click on “Course Materials.” From there click on “Introduction.” You will be able to listen to an introductory podcast. I hope to podcast semi-regularly to keep is in more constant contact and make the class feel more personal.

OTHER INFORMATION:

 

All assignments must be turned in using the “Assignments” tab on Blackboard Vista. Assignments should be saved as Rich Text Format before they are submitted.

To save a document as Rich Text Format:

Click “Save”

When the dialogue box opens, enter the file name. In the drop down menu labeled “Save as type” select “Rich Text Format.”

Assignments not submitted as rich text format, or not submitted using the assignments tab will not be accepted.
