The Accessibility Services Office (ASO) helps students with disabilities succeed in college. The ASO operates under the mandate of Section 504 and 508 of the Federal Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), which prohibit discrimination on the basis of handicap against any "otherwise qualified individual" and require that a "reasonable accommodation" be made on a case-by-case basis to ensure educational accessibility.
Students with permanent or temporary physical disabilities, learning disabilities, psychiatric disabilities, or chronic health conditions are eligible for assistance from the ASO. In order to receive accommodations, students are required to complete the established procedures outlined below:
