CCTV
CCTV’s have a large magnifying monitor.
They allow low-vision students to enlarge
text and objects by placing them on the moving platform below
 
JAWS & Zoom Text
Software to make computers accessible for students who are low vision and blind
 
Talking Calculator
Low vision or blind students have equal access to math
 
Colored Mylar Sheets
  • Used to cut down the glare of white
     pages, which can fatigue the eyes

  • Students determine which color works
    best for their vision

  • May be taped to the computer monitor
    to cut down glare

FM System
  • Used for students who are hard of hearing in the classroom

  • The instructor wears the microphone

  • The student wears a headset

  • Amplifies sound but may not clarify speech


     

Scanners

 
Scanners
  • The large scanner can scan a
    text book in appx. one hour

  • However, the document will need to be edited before it is accessible. This can take up to 5 weeks or longer to process.

  • Classroom handouts can be brought into the lab and scanned into the computer
