Click here for the English pre-assessment workshops

Has it been awhile since you’ve had math or algebra?
CCA has several options for brushing up on math and algebra skills before you take or re-take the math assessment for course placement.

Text Box: Pre-assessment Workshop

Attend a FREE pre-assessment math workshop to brush up on your math skills before you take the math assessment for course placement.

The workshops will be given at the following times.  Attend one that is convenient for your schedule.

All sessions are located at the CentreTech Campus in the Classroom Building.

Pre-Assessment Workshops will be scheduled during registration for the Summer Semester which begins on April 5. Check back later for workshops dates in April and May.

A+DVANCER

A+dvancer is a web-based program available to assist you in preparing for the Accuplacer placement test. There are two sections available: Arithmetic and Elementary Algebra. Each section begins with an assessment similar to the actual Accuplacer test. Based on your results, coursework with lessons specifically for you will be assigned. You will have 90 days to work on the coursework.

The subsidized cost of each section is:

  • Arithmetic Assessment Test: $1.50
  • Arithmetic Coursework $16.00
  • Elementary Algebra Assessment Test: $1.50
  • Elementary Algebra Coursework $16.00

Will this money and time investment pay off for you? National program results indicate that this program assists students in raising their arithmetic score by an average of 30 points which may result in placement in one class higher. Elementary Algebra national results are an average increase of 20 points which may also result in placement of one class higher. If you have time to spend on this program, you may save the cost of a math course.

To enroll in the program:

  • See an Advisor in the Enrollment Services department; Academic Support Coordinator in C-109B in the Classroom Building; or Math Department Chair, in C-208D in the Classroom Building to discuss the sections that are appropriate for your situation and to pick up a enrollment/payment form.
  • Take the form to the Cashier’s Office, 2nd floor of the Administration building and make payment.
  • Take enrollment/payment form to the Academic Support Lab. The Academic Support Coordinator or a Lab Assistant will complete the enrollment process. The hours of the Academic Support Lab are dependent upon the time of year. Check here for current hours http://www.ccaurora.edu/students/academic/tutoringlab.shtml

Free pre-assessment workshop videos

Can't make it to the pre-assessment workshops in person? We've prepared an online mathematics pre-assessment workshop video you can watch at the convenience of your own computer. The files are sizeable, so users on slower  connections may prefer to download the entire workshop in one zip file (100 megabytes; 4-7 hrs on a dial-up connection, 2-24 mins on broadband) instead of viewing them here.

Download the accompanying worksheet.
