CLEP is a series of examinations which allow individuals to earn college credit for what they know, regardless of where they learned it. CLEP is the most widely accepted credit-by-examination program in the United States.
The CLEP Examinations
All CLEP examinations are 90 minutes long. The exams are composed of two sections of multiple-choice questions. The English Composition with Essay Examination consists of a 45-minute multiple-choice test and a 45-minute essay question.
Assuming that an acceptable grade is attained on a CLEP examination, CCA grants full degree credit for many of the examinations. With an acceptable score, all CLEP credits will be accepted for transfer students. Preparing for CLEP
It is recommended that you use The Official Study Guide for the CLEP Examinations to prepare for the CLEP tests. The guide contains sample questions and a brief summary of exam content for each exam. The guide is available in the CCA Bookstore for $25.00.
How to Register
Registration packets are available in the Testing Center, S202. You must complete a CLEP registration form and return it to the Testing Center before scheduling an exam. A non-refundable administration fee of $25.00 is due at the time of registration. To reschedule your CLEP exam, a $5.00 fee will be assessed. Remember, registration forms must be sent to the Testing Center with payment in order to reserve a testing time. Registrations are taken on a first-come, first-served basis.
Buckley AFB Personnel,
Spouses/Dependants, and DOD/Civilians
can register online here for CLEP test:

funded personnel. Qualifying non-funded dependents and DOD/Civilians pay a $20 registration fee + the exam fee

Payment for CLEP
Payment for the test is made on the day of the test, with a credit card, check, or money order,
made payable to CLEP, for $70.00.
Your CLEP Scores
You will receive a copy of your CLEP score approximately four weeks after you take an exam. (Allow six weeks for English Composition with Essay). You will receive from the designated college a notice of credit awarded and equivalencies four to six weeks after the exam date.

CLEP ID Verification
CLEP requires two forms of identification. One
ID must be a valid, current, government issued picture ID such as driver's
license, state ID, or passport.
Credit for Prior Learning Guidelines
The Community Colleges of Colorado System – CCCS –
has guidelines for credit for prior learning including
credit by exam programs such as CLEP and DSST exams.
