Faculty guidelines for the use of the Testing Center

CCA CentreTech Campus           303-340-7542

  • A Test Administration Form must accompany every test (or group of tests for a single section of a single class), and should be completely filled out.  Instructors should provide all proctoring instructions, deadline information, and their current contact information including phone, email etc. This form is available online at http://www.ccaurora.edu/students/testing/testform.doc; at the Testing Center, at Lowry student services, and in the wall racks outside the LRC.
  • Instructors must provide the correct number of test copies.   The testing center will not make copies.
  • Instructors may leave tests for any individuals who missed classes due to illness or other exceptions.
  • For instructors' convenience in dropping off testing materials after hours, tests with administration forms may be left in the drop box outside the LRC, or in front of Lowry student services. Forms are in the rack.
  • Please contact the Testing Center as soon as possible if a test deadline needs to be changed; particularly if you have given leave to a single student to take it after the original deadline. Instructors may change deadlines for any reason, including for students given incompletes.   Instructors must notify the Testing Center if they have students testing when classes are not in session, or during breaks, when the Testing Center is open testing by appointment only.
  • If necessary (special circumstances or emergencies) require that a single test be faxed or emailed, arrangements must be made in advance with the Testing Center.  A Test administration form must still accompany each exam.   The testing center will not accept regular exams via fax or email.
  • All tests will be treated as proctored exams, unless instructors specify otherwise.
  • If instructors request it, take home tests will be handed out to students who present an ID, and turned in to the faculty member’s mail box.  Note: exams not proctored at the testing center are not kept on file there.
  • In general, full class testing can not be done at the testing center.  The Testing Center must approve any exams for an entire class; including Hybrid and Internet courses. Instructors are asked to provide a minimum of a two-week window during which students may test. Due to seating limits, full classes, and classroom classes that run overtime can not be brought to the Testing Center to complete exams as a group.
  • Instructors should take into account the fact that students normally have to take exams in a single sitting, that they are not to leave the testing center during their exams, and that they are not allowed to have food or drink in the Testing room. No cell phones, pagers or similar electronic devices are allowed in the testing center with the exception of calculators, if silent, and if approved by the instructor.
  • Completed Tests will be held for pick up in the LRC. Tests will not be returned via fax or email.
  • Instructors may pick up completed exams at their convenience during testing center hours, and should plan to pick up tests after semester deadlines have passed. Tests not administered by the deadline noted on the Test Administration form, or by the end of the semester will be destroyed at the beginning of the subsequent semester unless the instructor has requested other arrangements.
  • Testing Center services are only available at the CentreTech campus. All Lowry faculty and students have access to the CentreTech facility. Note: This does not include Assessment tests, which are offered at Lowry through Student Services.
  • If your students have accessibility issues or special needs, you may have them make accommodation arrangements with Reniece Jones, Coordinator of Accessibility Services at 303-361-7395.

These guidelines were established in accordance with input from Instruction, Student Services, Distance Learning, Administration the LRC and Testing
