The Tutoring Lab was created for students at all levels of the learning continuum to foster their academic success at Community College of Aurora. Resources are provided to prepare students for college level courses and to allow them to succeed at college level courses.
Tutoring
– Drop-in tutoring may be available in the
following subjects:
Mathematics, Writing,
Accounting, Biology/Chemistry, CIS (Computers Information Services), Spanish and ESL
(English as a Second Language). The current semester’s tutoring schedule is available in the LRC, Classroom
Building, Lowry One-Stop Student Services and at

Students may qualify for one-on-one tutoring if they have a
learning disability or if they are enrolled in certain vocational programs and also meet additional criteria.

In the event that you would prefer to hire a
private tutor, we maintain a list of tutors who are willing to tutor for a fee.
CCA does not endorse any
of these tutors nor does it suggest tutoring rates. Tutors set their own rates; students are obligated to pay
the hourly rate. It is advised that students and tutors meet at a public location.

Workshops
Regular workshops are free mini-classes scheduled throughout the semester on a variety of problem-topics from math, English, research, and study skills. Many instructors offer extra credit for attendance at workshops. The current semester’s list of workshops can be found here.
Pre-assessment workshops are provided free of charge during registration each semester. These are offered in two topics:
- The Math Pre-Assessment Workshops are designed to update students on math and algebra skills before they take the Accuplacer assessment that places them into their first math class. Math Workshop schedule

provide students with a preview of what will be covered in the Accuplacer Reading and Sentence Skills

English and Writing Resources – The Tutoring Lab is located at the CentreTech campus in C-109. The Writing Studio is open throughout the semester. Students may sign up for 20-minute appointments for a review of their writing assignments by a tutor. (Drop-ins will be accepted if a time slot is open.) Students should bring a draft of their writing assignment as well as the assignment instructions given by the instructor. A Writing Studio Coach may also be available at the Lowry campus. Check the current schedule for tutoring hours.
Computers and a printer are available for student use. Reference books are also available.
