Inclusive Excellence Council

Council meetings are held every 3rd Friday of the Month (see below). The first hour is dedicated to professional development related to creating more inclusive and equitable campus environments, and anyone on campus is welcome to participate. The second hour of the meeting is closed to Council members to conduct IE business.

IE Council Subcommittees

Each subcommittee provides intentional efforts to foster and implement IE with addressing specific needs for the College.The function of all committees are flexible and allow for movement and change if needed.  Members of committees can complete certain tasks and disband after that task is complete. All council members are expected to participate on one of the following committees:

Communication

  • Work with College Communications for social media efforts
  • Create content for and regularly update website
  • Create and distribute print materials
  • Create a “look” for the Council (i.e mark and consistency)

Programming 

  • Create, plan, and implement campus-wide events and programs for students, faculty, and staff
  • Support received from the Office of Student Life

Assessment

  • Continue the work of the climate survey
  • Organize process for focus groups
  • Conduct needs assessment to inform the Council on strategic planning efforts on an as needs basis

Human Resources

  • Research and recommend IE recruitment best practices
  • IE audit of current policies and procedures
  • Research and recommend best practices aimed at retaining employees of Color

Academic Affairs (closed committee)

  • Continue  Equity in Excellence work
  • Develop strategies to embed inclusive and equity practices in the classroom
  • Provide professional development opportunities specific to how to be intentional about diversity & equity, to impact education

Training (closed committee)

  • Provide curriculum development for the comprehensive IE campus training
  • Facilitate trainings on a needed and requested basis

Leadership Team

Comprised of two faculty, five full-time staff, and one student, this team represents different backgrounds, educational and work experiences, diversity, and longevity at the institution. As a team, their goal is to intentionally and strategically focus on education, training, and development for the campus.
