CCA Inclusive Excellence Strategic Plan

As the college embraces Inclusive Excellence (IE) this strategic plan will help guide how we can work together to institutionalize IE on multiple levels. Everyone will have an opportunity to contribute to this effort and make the goals throughout the plan relevant and tangible for their respective departments. This plan is intended for the entire college to share in the implementation and will also be used to inform CCA’s next College-Wide strategic plan for the next five years.

Goals: 

Goal 1: Assess and evaluate the practices, policies, curriculum, student learning and program outcomes, and campus attitudes and experiences for equity and inclusion. 

Goal 2: Student Involvement in the IE Process: Intentional in elevating the student voice, creating more inclusive student physical spaces, creating and maintaining direct IE programming, providing educational IE resources, and mentoring opportunities for students.

Goal 3: Establish and expand resources to support IE at CCA.

Goal 4: Create and maintain training for students, faculty, and staff as well as support individual departments in IE trianing that meet the needs of their specific disciplines and/or services. 

Goal 5: Create inclusive hiring and onboarding practices, offer IE professional development opportunities and require an IE goal in every performance plan

2015 Climate Survey

In 2015, a climate survey was distributed to the CCA community to better understand the perspectives of CCA students and employees on a variety of topics and issues concerning equity, diversity and inclusive excellence at the Community College of Aurora.

Student Focus Groups

At the same time that the 2015 Climate Survey, three focus groups were completed with CCA Students from specific identity groups (i.e., men of color, LGBTQ+ students, and ELL students. Findings from the student focus groups are still being analyzed and will be uploaded here when a summary is available. We are hoping to complete additional student focus groups focused on other social and cultural identities in the future.

Employee Focus Groups

Based on qualitative data from the 2015, six focus groups with CCA employees were completed during the Fall 2017 Semester. Findings from the employee focus groups are still being analyzed and will be uploaded here when a summary is available. We are hoping to complete additional employee focus groups focused on other social and cultural identities in the future.
