Five Things to Do Before You Start Classes at CCA

A graphic detailing five things students should do before they start classes. The fall semester begins at CCA in less than two weeks!

If you have already taken the appropriate tests and attended a new student or transfer orientation, congratulations!

Before you step into the classroom, here are five things to do before you start classes:

1. Pay for Your Classes or Set Up a Payment Plan.

Did you know that CCA has a variety of ways to pay your tuition?

The Cashier’s Office can work with you to find the best way to pay for your classes. CCA has two places where you can pay your tuition costs – the Cashier’s Office at the CentreTech campus is located on the second floor of the Administration Building and the Cashier’s Office for the Lowry campus is located on the first floor of the West Quad Building.

Set Up a Payment Plan – CCA offers payment plans where you can make monthly payments to pay for your tuition. Find out the details at the NBS Payment Plan page or if you’re ready to pay your tuition now, go to MyCCA, click on the Student Finance Tab, and click on Set up an NBS Payment Plan under Payment Options.

Financial Aid – If you haven’t completed your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), do so right away! You may be missing out on important grants, scholarships, and other resources that can help you pay for college. And if you’re worried about the cost of tuition and paying for college, CCA has partnered with SALT to help you balance your budget and manage college expenses.

2. See a Pathways Advisor.

Seeing a Pathways Advisor at CCA regularly is one of the most important things you can do to be successful. They can help you decide if you are taking the right classes, can help you with any general questions, and provide helpful advice about attending classes.

CCA is offering extended hours to help students meet with advisors. On Saturday, August 12, The Advising Center on the CentreTech campus will be open from 8 to 11 a.m.

The Advising Center will also be open until 7 p.m. from Monday, August 14 to Thursday, August 17 and will also be open until 7 p.m. during the first week of classes, Monday, August 21 to Thursday, August 24.

Contact the Advising Center with questions at CentreTech at 303-360-4906 or on the Lowry campus at 303-340-7093.

3. Register for Classes!

The earlier you register for a class, the more likely you will get into the class you want. Many popular classes are filling up, but make sure you see an Advisor first!

4. Check Your CCA Student E-mail for Important Updates.

Check your CCA e-mail for upcoming events, important reminders, and to keep informed on what is happening on campus. You may discover a great program or opportunity so don’t miss out!

5. Buy Your Textbooks!

Beat the rush and visit the bookstore before the semester starts and get your textbooks. Avoid the lines and ensure you get the textbooks you need without the hassle or stress.

Also, finally, if you’re in a rush, visit the Welcome Center at either campus during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, and someone will be happy to help you.

Good luck this semester!
