COVID-19 Alert Levels

Current COVID-19 Alert Level: Green - Low Risk

In response to increased COVID-19 transmission, as of January 2022, the Community College of Aurora (CCA) has developed four-tiered alert levels in order to inform the campus community of the college's response efforts. CCA's alert status operates independently from county, city, and state alerts but carefully considers and abides by all county and state ordinances.

Adjustments on these levels will be based on factors including positivity rates, average number of cases, campus conditions and public health orders.

The following alert levels have been created based on CDC and Tri-County Health guidance regarding community transmission levels of COVID-19. The CDC looks at the combination of three metrics:

  1. The total new COVID-19 cases per 100,000 population in the past 7 days
  2. New COVID-19 admissions per 100,000 population in the past 7 days
  3. The percent of staffed inpatient beds occupied by COVID-19 patients

Community transmission levels are categorized by the CDC as low, medium, or high. Please note that CCA will continue to adjust procedures and protocols based on updated science and guidance on mitigating the spread of COVID-19.

Green dot low risk

Green: Low Risk

COVID-19 virus prevalence is very low on campus and in the surrounding community. Testing capacity and supply chain are strong.

  • No changes in class modality

  • COVID-19 Task Force continually evaluates the risk on campus and provides recommendations to the leadership team

Yellow dot moderate risk

Yellow: Moderate Risk

COVID-19 virus prevalence is moderate on campus and community transmission is moderate to high. Indicators point toward potential challenges in responding to the increased rate of transmission on campus.

  • No changes in class modality. Possible options for remote offerings determined by Deans and Department Chairs
  • Face coverings are required inside all CCA buildings, regardless of vaccination status
  • Classroom capacity is at normal usage
  • Event space is determined on a case-by-case basis
  • If possible, departments and offices should provide flex-scheduling or working rotations for employees
  • Physical distancing is recommended when possible, but not a requirement within classes, events, and/or performances
  • COVID-19 Task Force continually evaluates the risk on campus and provides recommendations to the leadership team

Red dot high risk

Red: High Risk

COVID-19 virus prevalence is high on campus and in the surrounding community. Testing resources and/or hospital capacity are stressed.

  • Likely changes in class modalities as determined by Deans and Department Chairs
