Orientation FAQ

What do I need to do before I come to Orientation?

You should make sure you have been admitted to CCA, applied for Financial Aid, and you must register at least one week prior to the orientation session. Walk-in students for Orientation will not be permitted to attend. Also, you need to complete the Accuplacer prior to Orientation or have ACT or SAT scores that meet the minimum requirements submitted BEFORE your attend Orientation.  Please see the Testing website for more information.

Can I bring my ACT/SAT test scores with me to an Orientation session?

You need to submit your ACT/SAT scores in prior to attending Orientation so we can correctly place you into testing if necessary and prepare an advisor to meet with you during Orientation.

What are the minimum requirements for ACT/SAT test scores?

ACT Math

19+ for degree programs requiring Math for Liberal Arts

23+ for programs requiring College Algebra

SAT Math 500+  

ACT English18+

SAT English 470+

If your ACT/SAT scores were taken more than 5 years ago or if your scores do not meet the minimum requirements you will need to register for the Accuplacer at our Testing Website. 

I have registered for an Orientation session and need to reschedule, what do I do?

Email recruiting.careers@ccaurora.edu or call (303) 360-4796 to notify us of your cancellation. If possible, please notify us at least 5 days prior to your Orientation session.

What should I bring to Orientation?

You will need to bring a picture id and your personal schedule.  

I am not required to attend the mandatory student orientation, can I still attend?

Yes, we recommend all new students attend. The information offered would be helpful to any CCA student.

What happens if I never attend a New Student Orientation?

New Students who do not attend a New Student Orientation will not be able to register for classes until the requirement is met. It is important to understand the Orientation was designed with your success in mind.  

Is Orientation really 5 hours long?

Yes, New Student Orientation is 5 hours long. It is designed to prepare students for the college experience and assist in completing the getting started requirements.  At Orientation we will cover college terminology, paying for college, course options, CCA technology, advising and registration.

Transfer Orientation is 4 hours long.  It is designed for students who are new to CCA, but have completed college credits after high school.  At Orientation we will cover college terminology, paying for college, course options, CCA technology, advising and registration.
