On October 28th, 2015, the Community College of Aurora will be using the CCPT as its college placement test. New CCA students will need CCPT results or ESL (Accuplacer LOEP, if English is second language) in order to enroll for classes. You will be required to take a test unless you can demonstrate previous college coursework in English and Math or that you have sufficient test scores that are less than 5 years old (ACT or SAT, for example).
CCA uses the CCPT to place students into appropriate classes. CCPT tests are available during testing center business hours by appointment only. You will need to book two separate appointments for English and Math. The CCPT measures your knowledge in the areas of English, Reading, and Math.
The placement test (CCPT) is an untimed multiple choice test (except for the essay) and takes about 3 hours to complete. You will need to know which MATH COURSE you need for your program of study BEFORE you test. Please click here for information that will help you select the right math course. This document will help you fill out the background questions when you book your appointment or take your test. The test includes:
We strongly recommend taking the math and English portions on separate days.
It is important to do your best when taking the test. A student can only take any part of the test once in a one year period. It is strongly advised to prepare for your test, as you will not be allowed to retest before the next year. Accommodations for students with disabilities can be made through the Accessibility Services Office.
The possibilities for retesting are limited, and your CCPT test results will have a great time and financial impact on your education. There are many ways to prepare for your test:

If you are a future CCA student in another state, and cannot test in Colorado, fill out a Remote Placement Test Form for CCA Enrollment.
The cost of the CCPT is $10, which has to be paid when you come in to test. The cashiers accept cash, debit and credit cards. The cost is $10 for a full test or for Math only or English only.
CCA no longer uses the Accuplacer to place students into appropriate classes, as of October 28th, 2015. However, the Accuplacer LOEP is still used for ESL students.
It is important to do your best when taking the test. A student can only take any part of the test twice in a three year period. A student is not allowed to take any section of the test more than once the same day. If you do not receive the scores you desire, we strongly encourage you to take any of the following options to study/improve your score. If you did not score into a college-level or developmental course, you will be required to wait three days (between tests), or take a workshop before you can retest. Please click on the links below for more information.
The Accuplacer is a placement test. It is important that you do your best on the test to ensure proper placement. You will only benefit from this: you will complete your degree faster!
