A variety of IE professional development opportunities are provided for CCA employees. These are focused on building knowledge and skills in current IE best-practices for community colleges to better serve our students. Below are descriptions of the professional developments offered at CCA.
The IE Council meets the second Friday of each month (except for June, July, & August) from 10:00am - 12:00pm. We address general IE Council work and updates in the first hour and the second hour is dedicated solely to committee work. Using our IE Strategic plan as a guide, our committees provide intentional efforts to foster and implement IE. The function of all committees are flexible and allow for movement and change as needed. All IE Council members are expected to participate in one of the following committees: Assessment, Communications, Human Resources, or Programming.
If you are a CCA faculty, instructor, or staff member interested in joining the IE Council, please complete the Intent to Participate Form.
Additionally, we hold IE Professional Developments (open to the whole College) on the 4th Friday of each month from 12:00pm - 2:00pm. Stay tuned for marketing and promotion (usually via email, calendar invites, flyers, and D2L).

IE Champions at CCA is an initiative that has been created as a response to the College’s equity goals in the current strategic plan, as well as align with the values of the institution. This training program will support employees with increasing their knowledge, awareness, and skills regarding diversity and inclusion concepts and practices that can support and affirm the success and identities of all students. This professional development series consists of six three-hour workshops conducted each semester. Two tracks are offered for IE Champions: an employee track and a leadership track.
This training will provide applicable ways to incorporate Inclusive Excellence in employee roles with supporting students and creating inclusive and equitable work environments. Both tracks will receive the same content and will work towards the same outcomes for each session.
This track is for employees in administrative, director, or supervisory roles and incorporates strategies of how to include Inclusive Excellence concepts into leadership responsibilities. Both tracks will receive the same content and will work towards the same outcomes for each session.

Inclusive pedagogy professional developments are typically offered twice a semester (October/November and March/April).

Equity in Instruction Leadership Academy (EILA) is currently offered to full-time faculty and department chairs. This is an effort housed in Academic Affairs that Council members support. The purpose of EILA is to give faculty an opportunity to explore their student completion and success equity data in a course of their choosing with their peers. This is a cohort model where 5-6 faculty spend an entire semester examining their data, exploring strategies to close their equity gaps between students of color and white students, examine their classroom tasks, norms, and culture to create more equitable outcomes and more inclusive classrooms. This is offered each semester.
