The Fire Science Technology Program at Community College of Aurora is your first step to becoming a Firefighter. We partner with Denver Fire Department and Aurora Fire Department for training facilities, college credit and test preparation. In addition, Denver Fire Department gives a guaranteed testing spot to our Fire Academy graduates! Classes fill up fast and space is limited - contact us today
Firefighters respond to all types of emergencies and provide fire protection to their community. Firefighters fill a crucial role in the public safety system. When you complete one of the challenging programs at the Community College of Aurora, you are prepared and ready to take on this valuable role.

Program Level Outcomes (PLOs) - Fire Science Technology A.A.S.
Statements which articulate, in measurable terms, what students should know and be able to demonstrate as a result of and at the conclusion of a program. PLOs communicate program goals explicitly and foster transfer of responsibility for learning from faculty to students.
A student who obtains an A.A.S. degree in Fire Science Technology from the Community College of Aurora will demonstrate the following abilities:
- Demonstrate use of tools.
- Control and contain hazardous materials.
- Communicate in alignment with firefighting standards.
- Prepare for the next response.
Program Level Outcomes (PLOs) - Fire Science Technology Certificate
Statements which articulate, in measurable terms, what students should know and be able to demonstrate as a result of and at the conclusion of a program. PLOs communicate program goals explicitly and foster transfer of responsibility for learning from faculty to students.
A student who obtains a certificate in Fire Science Technology from the Community College of Aurora will demonstrate the following abilities:

- Demonstrate advanced methods to prevent, control and extinguish fires.
- Communicate at an advanced level in alignment with firefighting industry standards.
- Respond to, gain access to, and control emergency scenes.
