About the Community College of Aurora

The Community College of Aurora is a vibrant college with campuses in the cities of Aurora and Denver, located in the beautiful State of Colorado. Founded in 1983, CCA is a part of the 13-institution Colorado Community College System (CCCS). The college plays a significant role in providing access to education and opportunity to Aurora and Denver residents as well as to students from around the state. CCA served nearly 6,700 college students in academic year 2019-2020, as well as more than 5,500 concurrent enrollment students from Aurora Public Schools, Cherry Creek School District, and Denver Public Schools.

Designated as a Minority-Serving Institution with more than 65% students of color and as a Hispanic-Serving Institution, CCA is a community that is committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion through Inclusive Excellence - which inspires our faculty and staff to create an equitable and inclusive learning and working environment.

President Dr. Mordecai Ian Brownlee

Dr. Mordecai Brownlee

Appointed as the sixth president of the Community College of Aurora in August 2021, Dr. Brownlee has enthusiastically engaged with the communities served by the college and is already developing successful partnerships with key business and industry leaders, as well as with our local school districts to help the college advance its work as a key driver of the social and economic mobility of our students and community.  Dr. Brownlee, an inclusive educator who is committed to the intellectual and economic empowerment of diverse communities, brings an impressive resume in advancing student access, expanding student support services, and empowering academic pathways at several public and private higher education institutions prior to CCA including St. Philip’s College in Texas, the University of Charleston in West Virginia, Blinn College District in Texas, and Houston Baptist University.  Click here to learn more about Dr. Brownlee and the Leadership Team at CCA!
